About Great Lakes Youth Choirs of Voices Without Borders:

Developed in 2010 as the Little Traverse Youth Choirs to be the host choirs for the Voices Without Borders, Inc., Children of the World in Harmony Festival, held in Petoskey Michigan biennially. Founded to support year-round community-based youth choirs for Northern Michigan greater area, the only choir of this kind in the area.  Known now as the Great Lakes Youth Choirs (GLYC) of Voices Without Borders (VWB), Inc. The name has been revised to better represent the community it serves. Voices Without Borders, Inc. is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization based on the International Society for Children's Choral and Performing Arts, to carry on the work of the International Society. 

The mission is to nurture the voice through music education, pursuing artistic excellence in performance; bridging cultural and ethnic backgrounds through song. 


VWB supports the Great Lakes Youth & Treble Choirs and presents the Children of the World in Harmony International Choir & Dance Festival. The 2021 Festival was the eighth hosted in Northern Michigan and the 25th festival worldwide. Previous festivals have been produced in Asia, Africa, North and South America, and Europe. Past participants include Argentina, Belgium, Canada, the Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China, the Republic of Ireland, Mexico, Mongolia, the People's Republic of China, the People's Republic of Congo, Slovenia, Siberia, Thailand, Vietnam, and the United States (AZ, CA, MI, TX, WI). Singers from around the world also participate in the Voices Without Borders International Festival Choir.
